How remote work keeps me connected

My entrance into remote work was out of the blue I did not have a great deal of ideas or opinions about the subject before I was hired. 1 day, a buddy of mine. Remote employees do not exist in vacuums. We work with groups, for customers, for clients, and for businesses –all arrangements which involve other men and women. Unlike traditional tasks, the people we work with and for, are positioned all around the world. In a traditional, physical office, this type of diversity of lifestyle and outlook would be tough to replicate. Sure, there is always convention calls with customers or groups out of field, but it is not exactly the same as functioning virtually side-by-side with individuals from such diverse locales on a daily basis.

And we actually do function side-by-side! Remote work does not mean we function independently in isolated pods. Anyone who is “in the office” is tucked into our firm’s HipChat area, and in ways that makes people look more current than when we had been scattered throughout a concrete office. If somebody is online and accessible, you understand just where to locate them, and–because of our geographic selection and flexibility of work schedules–there is always somebody else “from the construction ” When I am working strange moments in my time zone, there is normally a co-worker or 2 a minute message off who I could bug using a meme or poor joke.
